Static Instagram Profiles - Yay or Nay?

Static Instagram Profiles - Yay or Nay?

We will argue with a brand all day who says their demographic isn’t on Instagram - everyone is on Instagram and all industries have a place on Instagram. The hard part is typically figuring out what content will resonate - and content costs - either money or your time (and time is money right?) this is the real question - is Instagram a place to spend on when you have limited resources.

Organic Instagram (or social media in general) is not where all brands will bring in majority of their sales. As we typically work with CPG brands this is usually a top driver of sales - however Google Ads, in-store promotions, or social paid ads may have higher ROI for you. What we don’t like to do is leave nothing or outdated information on your social channels. People may still be checking out your profiles and if you can create something to live there that can still be informative and be a good look for your brand, why wouldn’t you do that?

I recently came across @weekofthewebsite on Instagram and LOVED their profile set up. We have always told clients you want your social media to act like a website - who you follow, your bio, and your highlights are some of the first places people click to see what your brand is all about - so it’s important to nail that first impression.

What I love about @weekofthewebsite is their static profile - it’s set up with well branded cards that give you all the information you would want and look for on their site or even in a capabilities deck.

Otherwise you have other options for keeping an active face on Instagram - templates. Although we highly recommend not creating filter content - it’s a bit different when it’s just to maintain an active presence - which is what we do on @thecreative_exchange account. We used to have a static grid and many people were messaging to see if we were still in business. Without putting too much time into this channel (as it historically has not been a sales channel for us, we have developed templates to push content out which makes content creation easy and a minimal effort.
